Yu Zhu Huai Shan Sha Shen Soup

Ingredients

40g Solomon’s Seal Rhizome (玉竹), 40g Yam Rhizome (淮山), 30g Lady Bell Root (沙参), 30g Dried Lily Bulb (百合), 22g Dang Shen Root (党参), 15g Bitter Almond (北杏), 15g Sweet Almond (南杏), 4 Honey Dates (蜜枣), 600g Pork Ribs (排骨), 2,600ml Water

  1. Wash and parboil pork ribs in boiling water and drain.
  2. Soak dried lily bulb in hot water for 5 mins.
  3. Rinse all remaining ingredients and drain.
  4. Put all ingredients into hot water and bring to boil over high heat. Adjust to low heat and simmer for 2 hours.
  5. Turn heat off and add 1/2 tsp salt. Serve.

Note: This soup is for reducing cough, moistening lungs, improves spleen and gastric function.
